SLASH Interviewed On Belfast's U105 Radio Station
July 3, 2010Maurice Jay of Belfast, Northern Ireland's U105 radio station conducted an interview with Slash prior to the legendary VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist's June 30, 2010 performance in Belfast. Watch the chat below.
As previously reported, Slash received the "Hard Rock Ambassador of Rock" award at last night's (Friday, July 2) annual O2 Silver Clef Awards which took place at the Hilton on Park Lane in London, England. Slash was presented the award by friend and fellow rocker Ronnie Wood.
Slash said in a statement, "I'm more than honored to be the recipient of the 'Hard Rock Ambassador of Rock' award! Feels sort of like being Knighted, sort of. Cheers to Nordoff Robbins!"
Slash has tentatively set the first batch of North American tour dates in support of his self-titled solo album, which arrived earlier this spring. The trek will kick off on August 29 in San Francisco, with dates confirmed so far through October 2 in Seattle.
Even before recruiting ALTER BRIDGE singer Myles Kennedy for his solo project, Slash had heard about Kennedy for another gig. "It's interesting at this point to come full circle, you know, because I think Matt Sorum from VELVET REVOLVER had gone to him to audition him or, you know, try him out for VELVET REVOLVER, and because he was in ALTER BRIDGE he turned it down," he told The Pulse of Radio. "But apparently he auditioned, or he sent a demo in to VELVET REVOLVER before Scott Weiland, which I had no idea about. So it's an interesting story."
The second single from the album, "Back from Cali", features guest vocals from Kennedy and will be released to radio this month.
Slash's solo album features guest vocals from a variety of artists, including Chris Cornell, Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Iggy Pop and AVENGED SEVENFOLD's M. Shadows, as well as instrumental contributions from Dave Grohl and Duff McKagan.
